Dendritic December?

The forecast for this afternoon promises dendrite formation:

Expect snow intensity to pick up this afternoon as developing coupled jet structure induces large scale ascent/stronger isentropic lift in 290-295k surface. Forecast soundings suggest temperatures in the upper level cloud layer around -13c which is supportive of 70 percent ice cystal initiation. This coupled with 700mb temperatures of -13c should be supportive of fairly good dendrite snow Crystal fall growth this afternoon and evening.

It's time we Minnesotans got to know our flakes.

A guide to snowflakes (for Sara)

If you are out hunting flakes this afternoon and capture any digital dendrites as beautiful as this one, email them to 56572 for publication. Fernlike stellar dendrites are also welcome.
