Spending down

The ISD548 School Board "retreated" yesterday to discuss how to proceed with "spending down" the District's projected $2 million surplus. The District started the school year with $2.8 million and is spending down $810,000 this school year. The annual budget is just shy of $10 million.

What advice would you give the school board? How much cushion do we need? What would you hate to see cut?

We are short on teachers now. If we cut back any more staff I'm sure we will loose more kids to open enrollment. We need to pass a referendum.
