Verona the Veteran

The inauguration of the holiday season begins here with the clatter of hoofs on pavement accompanied by the jingle of bells as horse-drawn carriages parade through the heart of town.

Verona Peterson is a veteran of the holiday parades — she‘s been to every one. As usual, her favorite float was the Nativity scene, a production of Trinity Lutheran Church.

“It’s the reason for the season,” said Verona, who had just exited Riverview Place Floral and Fine Gifts, where proprietor Marlys Johnson was behind the counter. Photo by Carrie Snyder, The Forum
