The State of the Economy

There might be some change on top of the dresser at the
back, and we should check the washer and the dryer. Check
under the floor mats of the car. The couch cushions. I have
some books and CDs I could sell, and there are a couple big
bags of aluminum cans in the basement, only trouble is that
there isn't enough gas in the car to get around the block. I'm
expecting a check sometime next week, which, if we are careful,
will get us through to payday. In the meantime with your one—
dollar rebate check and a few coins we have enough to walk to
the store and buy a quart of milk and a newspaper. On second
thought, forget the newspaper.

Finally! Bravo DOT!

ST. PAUL – Maplewood State Park will get more notice next summer, and it didn’t take an act of the Legislature to do it.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation decided this week to allow supporters of the park seven miles east of Pelican Rapids to erect signs along Interstate 94 directing motorists to the park. The decision culminates a decade of attempts to get the signs.
“It is very significant to the community and the park,” said Rep. Bud Nornes, R-Fergus Falls, who is a regular Maplewood camper.
State rules only allow signs to inform motorists about attractions within 15 miles of an interstate, but Maplewood’s entrance is 22 miles away. Nornes, who has worked to get legislative approval for the signs, said state transportation officials may change the 15-mile limit so signs about other attractions may appear soon. The park features eight major lakes, including Lake Lida, and provides places to hike, swim, fish and boat. Besides regular campgrounds, there is one especially for horse owners. The park is home to 150 bird and 50 mammal species. (In-Forum)

Remember me from last summer?

Game over
Our Vikings put up a valiant fight against Crookston last night. They were behind, rallied and came up a point short of State. They held their heads high as they received their second place medals. You guys did good.
