I find it sad that a community can't stand behind their elected officials. I'm sure that every one of our school board members would like nothing more than to be able to express their feelings about this situation. They are legally bound to be silent. Wouldn't any one of us want the same courtesy provided to us? Do we want the people we elect to go against the law just so we can "hear the secret"? I hope that our new reporter in town can begin to report things with a little less opinion involved. It seems that the news isn't always telling both sides of the story but trying to stir up more news.

Just my opinion.

Once again WDAY has tried to spin the negative on 56572. I very seldom watch WDAY because of the negative press 56572 receives, but while in Fargo I ran into some 56572 folks and they said the cameras were in front of the school. I knew that meant trouble. I haven't seen any of those 56572 ads on that channel either, but I have seen it on other channels. Does that tell you something. Bring back Marv and Maureen. That was the real news.
If 56572 is to be successful; community and school, positive things need to be said and done.
Let's look at the positive side.
There is a reason for everything.

What 56572 ads? Do tell!

It's facinating to me to hear the rationale from the small handful of folks questioning the difficult but apropos decision regarding our superintendent. Rule out close the allegiance of friendships and/or those that decide everything in life by the dollar, and the overwhelming majority of us know that our School Board had the best interest of their constituents (ie: the students and staff of ISD 548) in mind.

Hold on a second...aren't the constituents of the school board the TRAXPAYERS of the School District? It should never be about hiring a boss who makes all of the staff happy. It sounds like that's what got Baldry in hot water - he wanted good hard-working employees who earned their salary (our tax dollars). That meant a few friends and neighbors of the School Board Members had to cut out some coffee breaks, running errands around town during school hours and taking 10 day vacations during the school year. Or is that what taxpayers want from school employees?

Whoever wrote the last posting has absolutely no idea about the "total" role of the school board.

So you really think Baldry is in "hot water" because he held the staff accountable? Give our school board a little more credit!

I think we need to spend our time on something positive.. maybe help the poor? Feed the hungry? Volunteer at school? Teach sunday school? Be kind to your neighbor?

Just some thoughtsl....

I think that everyone has the right to know what is going on within their school district. Having the school board members legally binded to secrecy is not fair to the school board members and community as a whole. Pelican Rapids is a small community. Situations like this can only stir up controversy when information is withheld from the general public. This leads to rumors and false allegations. The school board should be allowed to speak and receive support or scrutiny from the community for their decisions. The board may have the right to privacy, but this is a public school. The truth should become known so that the community can come together and judge their thoughts on accurate information. Leaving people to wonder can only lead to inaccurate thoughts and accusations.

If the board should release any information regarding Mr. Baldry, I could only think that Mr. Baldry may be waiting for that to happen. Thay way, he has a right to take legal action for violation of data privacy against the school district. It may be a way he could pay for his retirement, on the shoulders of the taxpayers. Let the issue die, it's done now!

Amen to that!

Since the school board is bound by data privacy and IF Baldry would like to clear up the matter (stopping the rumors and hype), why doesn't he just explain the reasons himself, leaving no legal issues between the two? Or is there something he wants to hide?
