Over a patio lunch at MG's this noon the German from Grant County bought up the subject of Janteloven. This will be explained in a future 56572 post. Then, somehow, the words "uff da" fell out of someone's mouth on to the table. What is the origin of these words? While investigating I came upon this lovely little Norwegian website. What I think forbanna means is extremely angry, as in P.O.ed. What was interesting on the site was Ukens forbanna spørsmål (This Week's "madder than hell" Question) which this week was "Does the USA make you forbanna?" 68.9% answered yes. Norway was in the news earlier in the week when the United Nations named it the best country in the world to live in.
