Iraqi interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi has said elections will take place in January as scheduled, despite continuing violence in the country. Saddam Hussein has announced his candidacy from his jail cell. Hussein's counsel Giovanni de Stefano claims that the latest Gallup poll shows 42% of Iraqis want Saddam back as President. 40% want to see him executed.
