Fair Games
It's good to see the Peterson boys back in the saddle. The retired editor recently wrote a letter to the Editor and his brother, the ex-Mayor of 56572, filed for City Council. One of the current City Council members filed again, we thank him. A second did not, we thank her for her years of public service.
I had written in previous post that it seems like the photos in the Press were getting larger. I stand corrected. This week's Press looks more like the Midweek. There is precious little news and tons of advertising. To me it's where to go to church, the obits, the sports, where to buy a car and where to go out to eat. If you need to know these things buy it.
Looking for news? Get it here on 56572.
Have at me Editor. I'm fair game.
I am honored by the fact that the Mayor is reading this blog. He admonished me yesterday about a comment I made in a posting back on July 9. The comment was "As far as I'm concerned we can take down the Pelican and put up a Goose." OK, I was not serious about demolishing the Pelican, but the way town looks today this town needs all the birds it can get. Anything we can do to get people to stop, get out of their SUVs and spend a buck or two. Four years ago, at the turn of the Century, I suggested to friends that 56572 be renamed. We agreed on the name Loddawadda. How about it Mayor? Not on your watch? Want to start your own blog?
Have at me Your Honor. I'm fair game.
The first of the three home football games this fall will be tonight. If our local highway contractor doesn't get his stuff off the Chauncey Martin parking lot today, my guess is some of it might be MIA by morning.
Last but not least one more thing the Press lacks. It will be 80 today, 85 tomorrow and 90 on Sunday. As one farmer said this morning, maybe the corn will ripen after all. If the mosquitoes are anything like they were last night, you will need to bring protection to the game tonight. It's high season for West Nile virus. I have one of these new Buzz Off shirts with the protection in the fabric for twenty-five washes.
We don't accept ads yet on 56572, but I'm going to make an exception. Free five ounce cones at the DQ next Tuesday. Tell Chuck and Sharon you read about it on 56572.
