Witnessses say mountain lion spotted near Arvilla

ARVILLA, N.D. - Residents of this Grand Forks County town say they spotted a mountain line in the area over the weekend.Former reserve police officer Joe Hunt said he and his wife, Rita, drove around in their pickup truck for a couple of hours to see if they could find it, after getting a report of the big cat. Rita Hunt said the couple spotted the mountain lion on the edge of a road, and it ran into a field and headed south. "If it wouldn't have been for its eyes shining, we wouldn't have seen it," she said. "It blended very well with the grass." Sheriff's deputies searched but could not confirm the sightings. Officials say mountain lions wander through the state from time to time.
