Cold Front Coming or New Guy (NG) and The Bike Trail Boys (TBTB)

Six weeks from now we go to the polls.
Until then we will do what good democracies do before they vote, we wage peaceful war.

NG knows how to build high schools.
NG must have looked at us as a school district in need, dire need.
NG knows which buttons to push, when, and how hard.
The word that preceded NG was "hold on to your wallets."

TBTB don't like change.
TBTB don't like people pushing their buttons.
TBTB don't like people dipping into their wallets.

In recent 56572 history TBTB have enjoyed influence far beyond their numbers, surpassing even the Round Table (RT)in political power. They have successfully stopped: a Community Center, a pretty much free Bike Trail between 56572 and Maplewood State Park and they have helped PGOLID stop a cluster development project on a white collar area lake. PGOLID is well heeled and will not be shoved around.

NG will now face TBTB-PGOLID. Neither side is in doubt of the outcome. NG knows only TBTB can vote and will shrug off PGOLID as they cannot. PGOLID might seek to have the laws changed as a big chunk of the money will come from them. If unsuccessful, PGOLID may try to a) secede from Otter Tail County, b) persuade Becker or Clay County to adopt them or c) go for the GOLID and start Pgolid County.

NG's getting the wagons circled, yet he is fatally short on scouts. NG is banking on six weeks being sufficiently short time for TBTB-PGOLID to get organized.

This fight is almost guaranteed to go at least three, maybe even four rounds. How will it end? I predict NG will punt on fourth and short late in the fourth quarter, asking his Board to put the issue on hold until the Community Center Committee (3Cs) decides what it wants to do, which is what 3Cs did to them. The City will remain on the sidelines paying rent. Worst case scenario would be the City scolding some people (none of whom live in 56572 proper) for bickering.

Ladies and gentlemen place your bets. Gentlemen, start your engines. The vote is May 12th, your real estate taxes are due in Fergus Falls three days later.

Did I hear the Weather Bureau issue a High Wind Advisory, or was it a Warning? What? A blizzard, then a dust storm, then a tornado?

Batten down the hatches mates.

(There will be occasional editorial comment on this issue on 56572 over the next six weeks. For detailed information check out 4C's or the ISD548 pages.
