ups and downs of life in 56572

Gas is up, pork is down, bananas are stable and the ditch glaciers of South Broadway are receding. Fifty forecast for tomorrow. Our boys on live prime time tv tonight. Except for the price of gas, life is good.

Bridge versus bridge, the concrete bridge won.

Lars K.Mikkelsen in Berlingske Tidende

One of the more exciting news items this past week happened Thursday night when the Karen Danielsen tried to sail under the Great Belt Bridge connecting the Danish islands of Funen and Zealand. The ship was not where it was supposed to be. The top ten feet of the ship's bridge were torn off and the ship was stuck. One Croatian sailor died. Failsafe backup systems failed, but the recovery teams put their emergency training to good use. The bridge is back carrying car, truck and train traffic.

Fargo
lost my favorite Chinese restaurant The Pearl (across the street from the strip joint) many years ago. Since then I’ve been looking for a good Chinese food address in Fargo-Moorhead. After a couple bad experiences I had lost my appetite for Chinese buffets. My mother knows restaurants in Fargo-Moorhead as well as anybody. Last night she took me to her new favorite, the Snapdragon (Old Village Inn) in Moorhead. When we walked in the owner greeted her as a regular. My faith in Chinese buffets has been restored. Here is the menu. I tried: Hot & Sour Soup, Stir Fried String Beans (Mr.Greenbean at Grandma’s are the very best) Kung Pao, General Tso’s and Thai Basil chicken, and sautéed Butter shrimp. The buffet cost $7.75. The quality of the food was very good. My business was appreciated. Bravo. I will return…frequently. Thanks Mom.
