Fargo doctor cited for tiger
By Brandon Stahl, Fergus Falls Journal
A Fargo doctor who pleaded guilty in November to maltreatment of an animal at his Pelican Rapids farm was charged last week for violating his probation after a tiger was spotted on his property. Roy Alexander Cordy, 43, was charged in September with six counts of mistreating animals at his YOR Exotics animal farm, after a dead tiger was found there in February. That tiger was sent to a national fish and game laboratory, which determined that it died due to malnutrition. As part of his probation, he was ordered to no longer possess exotic animals in Minnesota by Feb. 12, 2005, and make all reasonable efforts to transfer ownership of animals in his possession. Cordy said Monday that he has found homes for all the animals except one, a tiger. He said he has not been able to find someone who will take possession of that animal. Cordy entered a denial plea in the probation violation charge. He declined to comment further on the case. As part of his original sentence, a 90-day jail sentence and $200 of a $1,000 fine were stayed. If convicted, those penalties could be imposed.
