“The mission of the Pelican Rapids Library is to enrich individual and community life and serve as a community resource through materials, programming and service for all people throughout their lives.” This is a very broad mission statement. I realize that the Pelican Rapids Public Library and Multi-Cultural Learning Center is pushing the envelope of what libraries can be. This is something we can be proud of.
However, when a sign is put on the front door that free Bibles will be distributed on Thursday afternoon, October 13th, that pushing rips my envelope. No matter that the sign and the Bibles are in Spanish so who would be offended. No matter that the Bibles are being distributed by The Christophers.
A public library is not the place to do this.
