BTW
No school today in 56572. If you get very bored at home today, you can always check out The Blotter. The Detroit Lakes District of the Minnesota State Patrol is advising no travel in the area. The Patrol says roads are icy and in poor condition. The no-travel advisory includes all highways around Moorhead to Motley as well as Interstate 94 from Moorhead to Alexandria.

Listening to the scanner, it is obvious that this is becoming an emergency situation and that only emergency personnel need be outside. We do not need to add to their workload. Sanding trucks are sliding off the highways, their sanders freezing up, without chains you cannot move.
Thirty minutes ago my neighbor the local doctor went into the ditch out here trying to get to the clinic. The rain and wind have picked up in the last few minutes. How much longer before the power lines fall? Promise me none of you will venture out in this? When the lights go out my mobile number is 218-329-6350. Stay safe...see you when the power is restored. 915 am update: Ice pellets and heavy sleet, 29.8 degrees. 1000 am update : roads are turning white from the sleet. 1230 pm update: things worsen:
