Bye Bye Blace

Today is the last day on the job for my children's Elementary Principal Blace Schmidt. Mr. Schmidt was Principal of Viking Elementary since 1987. He is only the third Elementary Principal I have worked with over thirty years.

Blace saw many changes during his years here. He was able to work with those changes, even over the last four months. I agree with my wife that at heart Blace is a Teddy Bear. Kids picked up on that too. Although he had their respect, in some ways he was like Santa. Kids felt safe telling him stuff. In other ways the kids kept Blace young, even as he retires today, there is a lot of kid left in him.

I miss Blace and wish him and Myrna all the best in retirement.

Thanks Mr. Schmidt for all you did for my kids and for making my job easier.
