what 56572 wants for Christmas

Dear Valerie and John,

I hope that by now you have been able to close on 27 North Broadway. Both of you have asked me what locals would like to see happen with building. I have given this some thought. What is emerging in my crystal ball is The O3C.

56572 used to be the biggest town In Minnesota without a library. We are now probably the biggest town in Minnesota without a Community Center. 56572 residents have dreamed of having a Community Center. Smaller towns around us, like Rothsay and Vergas, have community centers. We talk about one, argue about one. We get nowhere. We envy Perham and Detroit Lakes. We wonder why we didn't think of doing what New York Mills did. It's not that we lack creativity.

The Ohman Community and Cultural Center could be so many things for so many people. Historic City Hall next door is what it is today due to a gift from the Thompson Family. I'm not asking for you to gift the building to the City. Just remodel it a bit and manage it, perhaps as a 501 (c) 3? Give it some thought.
