Farewell Doc Borg

Herbert R. Borg, 96, Pelican Rapids, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, in Lake Region Hospital, Fergus Falls, Minn. Mr. Borg was born June 29, 1909, in St. Paul. He graduated from Mechanic Art High School and Hamline University, both St. Paul, and University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, Minneapolis. On Dec. 9, 1933, he married Virginia Johnson. He served 4½ years in the Dental Air Corps during World War II. She died in 1973. On Jan. 26, 1974, he married Agnes Ruud. In 1974, they moved to Lake Lida near Pelican Rapids, where he was a dentist for 40 years, retiring in 1981. They moved into Pelican Rapids in 1997 and he entered Pelican Valley Nursing Home, Pelican Rapids in September, 2005. He is survived by his wife; a son, John (Karen), Winchester, Va.; a daughter, Carol (Roger) Frommelt, Wayzata, Minn.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation: Sunday from 5 to 7, with a prayer service at 7, in Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, and Monday from 1 to 2 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids. Funeral: Monday at 2 in the church. Graveside service: Tuesday at 1 in Fort Snelling, Minneapolis.

Dr. Borg did all my dental work in the 50's. Fast-forward to 2004. I chipped a tooth and was being treated by my dentist. He looked at my mouth and said, "Who did this work?". I said Dr. Borg in Pelican Rapids.

His comment was, "Great dental work". What a compliment.
