New Moose (finally) on the loose on Broadway

Patty Dahl opened the curtains on "The New Muddy Moose" tonight. It's an impressive place spanning three Broadway buildings with something for everyone. It's bound to attract and keep people in downtown 56572. We wish Patty and her staff all the best and encourage readers to stop in and congratulate Patty on her new business, another enhancement to life in 56572.

First impressions often determine the future of a relationship. There is little not to like, at least about the ambience, of the new The Muddy Moose. Somebody got something frightfully right. Whereas Riverside Coffee oozes California, the New Moose ooozes Rocky Mountains. There are nooks and crannies to hide with your mistress as well as round tables, by the window, for you, your wife and four kids after church. The South Dining Room is large enough for the Rotary Club. There is a Zandbrozishness about the place, if you know what I mean. In 56572's second bistro there is an Italian espresso machine, a Japanese coffee bean grinder, two smoothie machines, four beer taps, an upholstered salad bar and free standing fireplace (a la Panera) in the center of the main room surrounded by a bar. If you've ever been to a Panera, they are all Muddy Moose wannabes. We do hope Patty will get into bread and pastry baking. Tonight Patty was serving complimentary samples of Amish Smoked Gouda and Amish Hot Pepper Jack cheeses. According to the local Swede we were sitting with, both had attitude. Whether or not wine at $6.95 a glass will catch fire in 56572 is another question. Better start with some wine tasting evenings to hook us on your favorites Patty. On the empty fourth tap we would like to see a different brew each month. As soon as the kitchen is up and running we will send our restaurant critic by and cook up some kind of review. In the meantime we hope the locals will cut Patty a little slack until the, to be expected, wrinkles are ironed out. Patty seems to be The Iron Lady with will, courage, determination and and a fuel guage that only shows full. She is determined to succeed. She cannot fix what she doesn't know is broken.
