Agreeably disagreeable

A City Father showed up Riverside this morning. He commented about how difficult it is to comment on this blog. (I have added Rants, Raves and an Idea Box to the right column. These are direct links to the 56572 Editorial Office for those gunshy of publishing on the Internet. Know that this blog is moderated, comments we feel inappropriate go unpublished.)

He wanted to disagree with me about the CMF Big Lot. "How could they!?" Such things do not occur in the First World where order is expected. In the majority of countries on this planet, where governments have a harder time collecting taxes, the economy is much freer than here. There are fewer fences, fewer hoops. Business is done on the street, where they have cars in the parking lots, where they have public transportation, the bus and train stations.

I suppose the School Board does have the right to exercise its power over CMF, but in essence, does it not belong to the public? It's not like rollerblades on the track or people airing their dogs on the football field or vandalism at the Skateboard Park. What law have people broken? They are not smoking in the City Parks. I've seen people exercising their dogs on CMF Big Lot. We'd better put a stop to that too? Are the no parking signs being ordered? The PRPD instructed to ticket 'em?

I know that as a City Father you were elected, as was the School Board, to be a law and order person. Either make another ordinance, so the outlaws know where they stand, or let them be. Loosen up a bit. Learn to live with a little chaos. It's the way of the world.

Agreeably disagreeable.
That's something the world could learn from us?
Certainly you must disagree?

Just seems like common sense to me. Do we really want abandonded cars, boats, campers and RVs parked next to the elementary school playground?
Perhaps an owner of one of the empty lots in town could rent space to individuals who want to sell their own cars? City Father, how about letting folks sell next to City Hall or out of the Library Parking Lot?

I think the "For Sale" items should be parked at the bus gargae parking lot. There's plenty of room there.
