Afterglow in Maplewood

Last day for Elmer's Texas BBQ in Maplewood State Park. Five hundred eleven vehicles yesterday. What you missed - thanks to Xi Chen and Mohammad Smadi.

100% with some just past peak

Current Color:
Wind and rain on the 3rd caused a significant leaf drop. Many trees a bare and most have some bare branches. All trees except aspen are near 100% or past peak Peak color is past because of the rain and wind but there is still plenty of nice color.
Grasses: Past peak.
Wildflowers are past peak.

Best Fall Color View:
The best place for color viewing is along the park drive and in and around the main campground.
Upcoming Events:
Leaf Days will be held in the park 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Oct. 7 & 8. The event celebrates the season with food, fun and fall colors at their peak. Leaf Days are hosted by the Friends of Maplewood State Park.
Park Notes:
Water, showers and modern toilet building will be shut down for the season on October 8. After that date, water will be available at the park office.

Peak Color Projection:
Although we are just past peak color, great color will remain this weekend and through next week, weather permitting.
