HIP HIP HOORAY!! (the kids said)

Schools closed today because of the power outage. Buses left to return students home at 10:10 a.m.

Phones are out of service at both schools. You can call the bus service at 863-7000 for school information.

There will be no Junior High School dance this evening.

The Teacher Retirement Party has been relocated to the Pelican Rapids Public Library starting at 3:30 p.m.

The football game at home vs. Perham tonight will go on as scheduled.

Power outage delays start of classes in Pelican Rapids

A tree fell atop a power line early this morning in southwest Pelican Rapids and resulted in an outage for about 380 customers of Otter Tail Power Company. The outage resulted in a delay in the start of classes for Pelican Rapids High School and Viking Elementary School students. Otter Tail Power Company spokesperson Cris Kling said the outage started about 4:20 a.m. this morning and that all but 50 customers were restored with electric service by 7:35 a.m. The remaining customers were back on line at 9:40 a.m.The tree fell atop a mid-span on the line, wrapping the wires together and burning the line.
