People gonna gawk

Some people visit 56572 once in their life, some visit once a year. These visitors come either the last weekend in September or the first weekend in October, depending on the weather. There seems to be this unspoken rule of thumb. You just gotta see the leaves of Hallaway Hill once before you die. Many who drive by this weekend seem close to closing the books. They are not paying close attention. Driving on 108 becomes interesting. They can get lost. Way too many lakes. Way too many leaves. Way too few signs. I had never thought of it before, but today a car stopped dead center in the middle of Flatin Curve, wondering whether 56572 was up the hill or around the curve. Another brand new Corwin Accord, driven by a New Citizen, had two wheels off the road at every curve and wasn't speeding. Cecil had a Down the Road a Piece with Cec booksigning backyard Model T party this afternoon. They took off for Maplewood and were quite a sight as they crossed Lida. Burger Guy needs to open these two weekends. Put Bibi out front in her bikini. Eastbound lane in the morning with a maple leaf sign and an arrow. Westbound lane in the afternoon with Fargo and an arrow. To add insult to injury, Burger Guy decided on an epistle for his roadside blog this weekend, one with the words "strip poker" and "nudist." Epistles usually take two or three passes to read, even at 30 mph. What we could have used was something short and sweet. Come on Burger Guy. We haven't seen Bibi and Bob all summer. Get her dressed and get them out of the fish cleaning house. People gonna gawk, let's give 'em something to gawk at, besides falling leaves.
