I noticed a sign at Cash 'n Dash that says that as of October 31st the store had paid out $1,048,000 in Minnesota State Lottery winnings. Am I to be impressed by that, or not? Is there a site where we can check it out? How much has Pat taken in?
One Minnesota Powerball ticket is worth $47 million … is it yours?
One winning ticket for the November 1st Powerball drawing was purchased in Minnesota and is worth half of the $94.1 million jackpot. Nine Arizona players claimed the other half of the jackpot, $47,062,464.
If you live in 56572 and are holding this ticket, 56572 would be happy to call your employer for you. What's that you say? You've already quit? And you no longer live in 56572, just read the blog?
• Retailers earn 5.5 cents for every dollar in lottery products they sell. In addition, they
earn 1 percent of each winning ticket that is redeemed at their store.
• Total retailer compensation for FY05 was $25.1 million, an average of $8,071 per
retailer. Average compensation has increased 71 percent since the Lottery’s first full
year of operation. The greatest increase followed a commission increase mandated by
law in 1998.
• Unlike many states, retailers in Minnesota pay no fees to the Lottery beyond an initial
contract application fee of $100 and $20 for annual contract renewal. In many parts of
the country, retailers must pay for such items as ticket dispensers or telecommunications.
• Retailers may not accept credit cards for lottery purchases.
• Retailers may not “mark up” lottery tickets nor sell them at a discount.
