Remodeling costs prohibitive?

The road towards a larger Fire Hall for the PRFD hit another speed bump last night when at a meeting of the townships another, what at first glance would seem very reasonable, offer was put forward by Lake Region Electrical Coop to sell their real estate and buildings on North Broadway. These properties are now leased to, among others, the City of Pelican Rapids for offices.

What next? Hasn't this option been looked at previously and dismissed? What would seem a logical move must not be so logical. Why not?

The big question is why was it dismissed? I don't think that question has been answered other than the buildings in question would need "some work" such as drains, etc. Even if they need to have some work done wouldn't it still be cheaper than building a new fire hall and isn't the location much better?
Can we get answers for these questions?
