Bob, Bibi and the rest of us Southsiders mourn the passing of a friendly neighbor who spent many hours looking out over Lake Lida from the south side.
Jessie "Irma" Leek, age 93, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in Murrieta, California, surrounded by family members.
Jessie "Irma" Leek was born September 4, 1913, in Gillette, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Jessie (Thompson) Webb. On April 27, 1931 Irma was united in marriage to Grant Leek in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Grant and Irma lived in Omaha, Nebraska, for many years. In 1953 Grant and Irma moved to Pelican Rapids where they owned and operated Maple Beach Resort on Lake Lida until their retirement in 1971. Grant died on February 28, 1986. Irma has maintained her home on Lake Lida and spent the winter months in California.
