Work is under way on a $35 million expansion to West Central Turkeys at Pelican Rapids that will, when completed in the summer of 2008, add 35 percent to the work space and also result in the addition of 75 employees.
“We’ll be able to increase our production and increase the tonnage here at West Central Turkeys,” Plant Manager Don Cole said. “The expansion also will allow for the addition of equipment to enhance operations such as our cooking and slicing lines.”

It was filled with things he had purchased on Temu, which he’d recently
discovered (much to my mom’s annoyance).

Is this good news or bad news ?
Is the comment of 9:23 a rhetorical question meant to generate honest discussion, or the kind of smirky, passive-aggressive remark that is all too common here (uh oh, more people in town that DON'T LOOK LIKE US!)?
I sincerely hope it's the former--in which case, I say be grateful for this economic opportunity for P.R.
And thanks, Jim, for your really excellent blog. It's the first thing I read every morning (okay, after Drudge, but I'm not really admitting to that...)!
Is the man in the picture Don Cole?
I think it's great that the turkey plant is expanding. Let’s be honest, if it weren't for the turkey plant, this town would not survive. This is a positive thing that will bring even more people to our community. More people equal more revenue. I'm just waiting for a watch dog group to pounce on this seeing as it is a positive thing for the community-they can't like that!
