This surprisingly deep instrument is probably too complicated for its own
good.

This should be interesting! Do we know yet why the former superintendent was removed yet still costing the taxpayers money toward salary? Hhhmmm, which way to go, who to vote for? Do we have more faith in the school board members or former superintendent?
This should be interesting. As I understand it there are two or more board members who pulled a power play and the superintendent did not have an opportunity to even respond. Just like in Barnesvile. I am for anyone but the incumbents as who can trust them.
Let a sleeping dog lie or it may come back to bite you and develop an infection which causes you lots of pain! Only the person who is bitten will feel that pain. Is it worth it?
Is the former superintedent being arrogant, vindictive or foolish in filing for school board?

It appears that you have a very "one sided" view of the situation involving the former superintendent.
If you only knew the "other part of the story", I would like to think that your attitude would be different.

WELL SAID.
I can assure you that all former members will do whatever possible to keep Mr. Baldry from being elected. Once empowered to be in a position to tell what actually went on, there will be lot of "Oh that's what went on...we didn't know that???" Run Kent Run, lets get this gag order off the community and this whole ordeal.

Maybe if you would check on the past history of the former superintendent's employment history you would not be so quick to blame two or more current board members for a "power play" for his termination.
I hope we are able to get a school board who is willing to listen to the public and fully research all decisions and available options before it makes decisions that affect all of our children and taxpayers as well.
Somewhere there must be a happy medium where everyone can get along! That is my wish for School District 548!
To the future board members, remember you are representing the public that voted for you. Take the time to listen to what they have to say. You are their voice!
In response to the previous comment, it is unfair to make comparisons to Barnesville’s past situation. If you had done your homework, you’d know that. Before others choose to contribute to further follow-up comments of “mud slinging“, please consider giving our newly-hired superintendent a baggage-free start to her tenure to bring administrative stability and leadership to ISD 548.
Much of what is currently posted on this subject is redundant. Check the archives of this blog to get the answers.
What are you waiting for, filing ends July 17. Submit you name to the running. Hope to see more people listed on the ballot.
Does anyone know the details of the honor recently bestowed on the local school board on behalf of the State School Board Association?
Aren't schools supposed to be about helping our children get the best education possible? And isn't it the job of the school board to make sure that happens?
Forget all this other petty stuff...
It's about the kids!
Who is going to help that happen?
Think about that when voting-nothing else.
There are days when I wish I'd never moved to 56572. Everything is negative.
Let whoever run who wants to run. Let the pieces fall where they may. Some who have posted here look a little childish with stating a side as fact, when, in fact, there may be another side to an issue. Most voters here are not childish and will vote for who they see will do the best job. If the voters elect Kent, an incumbent or a challenger, so be it.
I don't know Mr Baldry. Don't know Mr Neilson or Mr Sasso-Lundeen. But I have known Don Perrin and Steve Strand forever. Have found both of them receptive to public input on school issues. I have every confidence in them to be on the school board.
I just think you are all cowards for mud slinging without signing your names. If you truly believe the things you say, don't hide behind the "Anonymous" mask.
CHANGE IS GOOD! IT'S TIME FOR NEW BLOOD ON THE BOARD.LETS DO IT!
Knock off the negative comments. If you want to be so negative, MOVE! Who knows what this community could accomplish without you!

BRAVO!!!!!!!
I think I'll get in on this action, since this is the hottest topic I've seen in a while...but what's with all the "anonymous" comments - if you have an opinion, why hide? If you have an opinion, and strongly believe in it, you should feel no need to hide behind a curtain of anonymity - this may be a small town (of which I have just moved to) where everyone knows everyone - but I think you have a better chance of offending someone by posting anonymous comments than signing your name to them. Plus, you shouldn't care what others think of your opinion, since it is your opinion. At least you have a voice, and have a method of speaking up. I think that is one of Jim's ultimate goal with this blog - allowing a platform for informed citizens to comment on things happening in their town - but please don't hide behind anonymous comments - strong or defiant comments are not worth making, unless others can attach a name behind those comments.
To: Eric Brown Your new so you don't understand. You may be treated decent in this town but they (the Lifers) never really let you in. I'd be careful what I say.
Please remember the core of the issue is WHAT IS BEST FOR THE STUDENTS! I will be looking for someone who believe's the students are the first priority. Pelican Rapids is very unique and has MANY strenghts. Keep this school board election focused on the only thing that matters, children.
