Ecumen, which manages Pelican Valley Health Center in Pelican Rapids, has named Randy Wanek as Pelican Valley’s new administrator. Before joining Ecumen and Pelican Valley Health Center, Wanek was the healthcare workforce coordinator of the West Central Initiative in Fergus Falls. He provided leadership in working with healthcare providers, colleges and high schools to forge a plan for dealing with worker shortages in the healthcare profession. Wanek has an extensive background in long-term care. He served as administrator for Good Samaritan Nursing Homes in Hoffman and Glenwood, and earlier in his career he was director of environmental services for Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. “This role is a great opportunity to serve the community and the area’s seniors,” said Wanek, who began his new leadership role last month. “I’m greatly enjoying being part of a high-quality team here at Pelican Valley Health Center.” Wanek is a native of Otter Tail County. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bemidji State University and his nursing home administrators’ license through graduate work at Concordia College in Moorhead. Pelican Valley Health Center provides a variety of services for the area, including long-term care, assisted living and rehabilitation services. Ecumen is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and is Minnesota’s largest non-profit senior housing and services provider.
