1 c. Crisco 1 c. light molasses 2 tsp. soda 1/2 c. hot coffee 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. cloves 3 c. plus 1 tbsp. flour Cream shortening Crisco. Dissolve soda and salt and molasses in hot coffee. Mix well. Add flour with spices. Beat well. Chill and roll out. Cut along cookies with a Spam can. Bake at 350 degrees. AUNT SALLY COOKIE FROSTING: 1 env. plain gelatin 3/4 c. water 3/4 c. sugar 3/4 c. powdered sugar 3/4 tsp. soda 1 tsp. vanilla Combine gelatin and water (soak) before you add sugar. Simmer 10 minutes. Add powdered sugar and beat until frothy. Add soda and vanilla. Beat until thick. Frost underside of cookie. | |

Thanks so much for the recipe. Those are Richard and my favorites and as a child I can remember Mom making them with the spam can -- He's in the kitchen right now hunting for the ingredients to get started!
