A Maplewood Township driver had an up close and personal encounter with a Pelican Rapids school bus this morning. The driver of the 1989 Oldsmobile skidded down a hill through a stop sign into the side of the bus which was in the intersection trying to turn left. The driver and his passenger were not injured, but their Olds will not see further duty. The eight students on Bus 5, and the bus driver were also not injured. Damage estimates to the school bus are slightly over $5,000. Maplewood Township is not known for rush hour traffic, yet some days, when you least expect it, things can get interesting going up and down those hills.
