Pete took up smoking again today

If the cement pad Pete stands on is in the City Park, Pete is in violation of our latest city ordinance. What do we do now? Let's hope the other media doesn't pick up on this.

What we think of America
"I still feel a schoolboyish thrill every time I go to America, and an exhilarating sense of lightness when I get there."

Hearing voices
A twenty-one year old young man who spent most of those years in and around 56572 heard voices last Wednesday afternoon. The voices told him to walk out into the barn and put a bullet into his brain. He obeyed. His funeral is Wednesday.

Meth was involved in this tragedy.

This morning I spoke with a local acquaintance I had not seen in a long time, a random meeting at the pumps at BP. She greeted me warmly. We chatted about the death this weekend of a common acquaintance (cancer, at fifty-two) then about the twenty-one year old. My acquaintance sees the effect of meth use daily. Ignorant as I am about meth, I asked what could be done to stop this plague. She feels the most effective solution is to "scare the hell" out of our young people. She suggests doing this by making a documentary about meth inmates in our County Jail. She frightened me with her stories of new inmates breaking off their skin scabs and selling them to other inmates. There is still a trace of meth in the dried blood. The same goes for urine and feces.

Scares the hell out of me.

I have been reading your blog for a few months off and on and really enjoy the pics and articles.

This one reminded me of the speaker that came to town about a year back to talk about drugs. Only about 30 people attended that talk. It saddens me that more people don't feel a need to get informed about something that could affect our kids in such a horrible way. I hope the one that Scott Fox and Sheriff Schlueter presented was better attended. (I misssed it due to our dog having puppies that night). I hope that people/groups/organizations keep getting these speakers to come to our town and that the people that do attend , spread the word on how important it is and that yes, it's happening everywhere.
