Scrabble on a winter’s night, loons calling, curtains blowing in windows, laundry flapping on the clothesline

Andrienne E. Davis

Andrienne Elizabeth Cowie, daughter of Robert and Viola Cowie of Rothsay, Minnesota, was born November 10, 1952.
On Saturday, April 9, she left this world to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her parents, grandparents, friends and loved ones in God’s glorious Kingdom of Heaven.
Andrienne was baptized and confirmed at Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay. On October 18, 1975, she was wed to the love of her life, Gene W. Davis, of Pelican Rapids, at Hamar.
She was a 1970 graduate of Rothsay High School and attended the Fergus Falls Community College as a member of their very first Medical Laboratory Technician course. As a lab tech she worked at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls and for the Korda Clinic in Pelican Rapids.
Andrienne and Gene farmed near Lake Lida until 1990 when they purchased Maple Beach Resort on Lake Lida.

A member of Zion Lutheran Church, Andrienne, throughout the years, had served on the church council, music board, Christian education and served as Sunday School Superintendent, but she will best be remembered for her incredible talent as church organist for 22 years.
An avid reader and bibliophile Andrienne frequented the Pelican Rapids Library. She belonged to the Hot Reads for Cold Nights program and wrote book reviews for that program, which were published in the Pelican Rapids Press.

She was a crossword puzzle aficionado and prolific writer of kind words to others in time of joy or sorrow. Andrienne gave the generous gift of her corneas for transplant.
Knowing that it took so little to be above average she believed in good manners, promises kept, rising above and going through trials and tribulation, the power of prayer, the Trinity, redemption, the forgiveness of sins, and love.
A woman of eclectic taste, she enjoyed the Beatles, Tina Turner, Bach, Mozart, the Moody Blues and Willie Nelson. She found pleasure in playing Scrabble on a winter’s night, loons calling, curtains blowing in windows, laundry flapping on the clothesline and playing her piano.
Since 2001 her mettle had been tested by cancer but she was undaunted and wouldn’t let it define her life.
Andrienne treasured her husband, Gene of Pelican Rapids; and daughters, Sarah Davis of Fargo, North Dakota, and Molly Davis of Pelican Rapids. She is also survived by her brother: Philip (Rita) Cowie of Pelican Rapids; two sisters: Jaime Paulson of Pelican Rapids, and Kathryn (Tim) Heroff of Rochester, Minnesota; mother-in-law: Ruth Davis of Pelican Rapids; brother-in-law: Dean (Deborah) Davis of Apple Valley, Minnesota; sister-in-law: Barb (Willie) Peterson of Pelican Rapids; four nieces; five nephews; and three great nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law: Dallas; two brother-in-laws: Alan Davis and Chuck Paulson.
Blessed be the memory of Andrienne Davis!

Drugs for a damp, dark day in April
Numi teas and Lindt chocolates are about the best in the world. By next week the tulips will be from the local garden.

Reason to party?

Minneapolis (and Moorhead) to have citywide Wi-Fi
This is something 56572 City Fathers should consider as well. Wi-Fi should be available to all at a reasonable price, just like water and sewer.
