An honest mistake, or not? The honest mistake could have been an underestimate of voter turnout, too few hours, too few election judges, etc. On the other hand, a no voter might have felt it was part of "The Plan."
One of the benefits of living in 56572 is one seldom has to stand in line for anything. If you've voted in township elections you know that lines are taboo. The only time we will tolerate standing in line is when we eat out in Fargo on a weekend. When voters arrived in the High School foyer and were directed into the gym then told by those leaving the gym that it would be thirty minutes to get back to this point it became obvious how people were going to vote. Yes votes got in line quietly. Thirty minutes is nothing for a new high school. No votes were heard to say, "What the hell? You mean I have to stand in line to do this?" I saw many turn around and leave even some what I am quite sure were yes votes. The congestion in front of the High School caused an accident.
I had a great time visiting with neighbors I know while in line. The time went fast, until we got into the cafeteria and saw there were only three or was it four election judges at tables. It was not arranged by township or city, but alphabetically. Once you got to an election judge and found your name was not on the list, you had to move to and stand in another line to register.
Had they known this would happen they could have opened the foyer concession stand. I will not criticize those who organized the election without further facts, but I will go so far as to say 1) I was less than impressed 2) I feel the voters should be given a) an apology and b) a promise it will not happen again.
