The Danes are on holiday. The sun is shining. The Copenhagen Jazz Festival has a few days left. The news this morning is not to get too happy, Denmark has fallen a few spots in the latest Happy Planet Index. Still, the Danes are the happiest Scandinavians on the planet, not counting the Icelanders.
Parking remains a problem in the Danish capital. 40% more vehicles are looking for 3,000 fewer parking spots. The Parking Police were out and about last evening with their laser rulers to check if they could fine you 550 Danish crowns for being a few millimeters too close to the corner.
After enormous security queues at the recently privatised Copenhagen Airport last week, yesterday the news was that the European Community was considering requiring other airports require passengers arriving from CPH to be screened upon arrival. This must still be sorted out. Things will improve when the Security Folk get back from their holiday in a few weeks.
My Danish Brother had the bad luck to drop his mobile telephone into Davy Jones' Locker this week. His Danish Design glasses fell off his balding head at the same time, so he could not see to reach to save the phone. He is now trying to call the telephone company to get a new phone, but they are too busy answering calls to answer. He must have been part of the Happy Planet Index survey.
Stay tuned......
