Just another Saturday in paradise (Very local news you won't hear anywhere else)

"Like many of the people I had read about, I set out on a long journey to find truth and beauty. As usual, the road led straight back to the beginning: home, country roads, the sun setting through the woods."
Joyce Sutphen

Second Saturday in August. Arnie and Martha had a brunch for their German son Dietmar, who arrived back in his adopted Heimat of 56572 yesterday, twenty years to the day from when he first arrived as an Exchange Student. He is courting an American woman, nevermind she is not from around here. Dealing with the death of his mother several weeks ago his defintion of grief (Immer wieder Scheiße!) is succinct. Should have been the wrap-up to Revival Week in the Revival Tent on the East End of town. With Dr. Dave's assistance Kevin and Tabi sheared seven of their alpaca today. Dr. Dave had to staple one laceration....on an alpaca. Across the field and behind the Swede Church cemetery, Allen stared down a skunk who came out of the bushes back where the Swede Church biffy used to be. Allen had just arrived from Amor Pork (gotta love the name) with one hundred fifty pounds of meat for tonight's Swede Church Pig Roast to raise money for the new church kitchen complete with a dishwasher. "The longer we wait, the more it's gonna cost us." The skunk sniffed around, heard Allen's prayers to stay away from the smoker, and retreated to the bushes. By 8:00 p.m. most of the pork was gone, there were beans, potato salad and a few desserts left over. Three hundred had been fed, the free will offering plate was to the brim, it was raining so most of the Swedes appeared happy in addition to well fed. Mike, the bachelor (Pam is in Thailand, her successor supposedly moving up from Missouri) Future Packer Fan showed up just before closing. Should have been the annual Island Party on North Lida, but now the island is private and there is a "cabin" on it, the Island Party people may need to get together with the Tent Revival people and see how things can get revived (notice the color coordination) in a tent on a different island not necessarily at the same time. Looney Daze are wrapping up over in Vergas. People over there will need revival in the morning. From 56572, it's not far over to Vergas as the crow flies, but culturally it's a different time zone. Other than that, it was a busy day at Larry's and the DQ. Plenty of parking anywhere else.
