What MN really stands for

A friend came Riverside last week to describe his recent maiden voyage to New York City. One comment he made which I have been pondering since was "I quickly discovered that I had to get rid of my Minnesota Niceness. It just doesn't work there. People don't seem to have time for it. Respect the other person's time by being businesslike and to-the-point and one can fit in."

Wikipedia links to two other Scandinavian traits which I feel make us a lot like we are. The first is the Law of Jante which we have discussed previously on 56572 (you can search 56572 for Janteloven at the top of the page) and the other, probably more appropriate to those of us living east of 56572, (Lida Township has the only area flag on the Post Office Infokiosk) is the word Lagom. What's your definition of Minnesota Nice? Do you see any Jante or Lagom in yourself or 56572-The Town?
