TWTWTW 2006.40 Bashing the Golden Rule

Josh's boots came home this week.

We are OK. No need to call.

These are the days when television cameras in front of schools in Amerca mean bad news. On what must have been a slow news Thursday, Channel 6, acting on a tip from Crookston (teacher in trouble) via Sister Channel 8 Grand Forks, finally arrived in 56572, cameras blazing. Their diagnosis of us, after a brief checkup, is that we are a town divided. Our Superintendent has been "fired." The Loretel switchboard on West Mill glowed red with all the traffic. "Hey Mom, I just saw 56572 on TV, what's goin' on down there?" The young new Editor (yes he does write the editorials) at the Pelican Press was interviewed and was able to vent his frustration. A close friend of the Superintendent was able to vent his. A School Board member calmly stated the School Board's view. The Superintendent remained cool and calm off camera. 56572 follows his example. Let's all (Bloggers included) keep the Golden Rule in mind, before we decide to bash.

How 'bout them Twins? With the closing of Bridges last month, 56572 is now without a sports bar. There is bag after bag of cranberry pancake mix and jar after jar of mint jelly on the walls of The Moody Moose Bistro. There is no Plasma. The need for one may be gone before Patty can buy one and hang it above the piano. Seems to me a Plasma would be out of place on the same wall as a clock advertising Les Deux Magots. Patty promises to open up TMMB's WiFi. She told us she had been told not give the password to anybody until they had at least $3.50 on their tab. It's Buster#1DOG.

What bothered me considerably this past week was a comment an anonymous reader (As-Salamu Alaykum to you) left on my Ramadan posting three weeks ago. Don't you think you are painting with a broad brush? The greeting was meant more for 56572 Muslims who will be back in their West Mill Mosque today. Eid ul-Fitr is not until October 24th.

Jimmy's Pizza has been sold and will have a new (local) owner the first of November.
Echo Bay died a quiet death.

If Thursday night's Wine and Beer Tasting at TMMB are an indication, attendance at Oktoberfest 2006 will be up.

Lala is near death. What words she speaks are in German, the language she spoke as a child. Her daughter understands them. "How are you?"

From what I understand Kevin W. was here to cover a story on Oktoberfest. You have to wonder if he didn't get a "tip" from our new reporter to check out the "problems" at the school (I kinda heard this is what happened) People are always asking me how things are at the school.. I tell them "JUST GREAT!" ( I work there) the folks at the school are doing their jobs as usual and not letting all of this get to them. You never hear the faculty and staff discussing it or bad mouthing any parties involved (at least at the h.s... thats all I can speak for) We are doing just fine, and people please stop fishing for a scandal, it's just not there.. I don't believe this has divided the school staff.. let's not let it divide the town..

The new press guy really is letting our town down :(

As far as I know, I was the first person contacted by Kevin Wallevand of WDAY. I told them to read the Pelican Press. They had not. He said a crew was coming to 56572 to cover Oktoberfest. Kevin said the tip to WDAY came from sister station WDAZ via somebody in Crookston. I don't think Kelley called them. Did you Kelley?

Yes Kelley did you?
