DGF super swaps 3 R's for retirement
By Craig McEwen
......Candid but respected Wahl won't be remembered as the guy with the beaming smile who put a priority on winning transparent friendships. Frank decision making became the hallmark of his administrative tenure. "He tells it straight forward," says D-G-F board member Ronnie Tang, who describes Wahl as an honest, hard-working superintendent whose numbers-crunching, mathematical abilities kept the district fiscally sound. "There's nobody much better with budgets around the area," Tang says."He's been a great superintendent," says board member Doug Franke. "He gets the facts out to the people whether they like to hear them or not." Geri Hanson has taught school in Glyndon for 31 years. She is president of Education Minnesota Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, the local teachers' union and has known Wahl as both a principal and superintendent. "He's not your smiley person. He tends to business," says Hanson. "He's had the good of the school in mind all the way along."
