Hors d'œuvre, (IPA: French [ɔʁˈdœvʁ] but often in English as [ɔɹˈdɝv]; French plural: hors d'œuvre, without an extra s; English plural often hors d'œuvres), also known as appetizer(s), refer to the food served before or outside of (French: hors d') the main dishes of a meal (œuvre, literally "work").
The purpose of the hors d'œuvre is to whet the appetite; if there is a long waiting period between when the guests arrive and when the meal is served (for example, during a cocktail hour), these might also serve the purpose of sustaining guests during the long wait. Hor d'œuvres are sometimes served with no meal served afterward. This is the case with many reception and cocktail party events.
Hors d'œuvre may be served at the table; for example, as a part of the sit-down meal; or they may be served before sitting at the table.

Thanks - sounds like fun. I am looking forward to this event. Hope my schedule agrees!
It was a wonderful party! Lots of great area women showed up and a boy came too! The Beckers are new to the area and showed up for a little glass of wine, some tasty food and met a few locals. They are delightful new additions to the 56572 region.
It was very fun to see the Muddy Moose filled with light, laughter, food, and wine. Thanks to everyone who came out, it was sure fun to see you again and to meet some new folks.
Thanks to Carolyn of Nelstrom's Flooring and Marcia (she's the owner of the cool new framing shop in Nelstrom's) and to Patty of the Muddy Moose for hosting such a fun time!
When ya opening up again Patty?
Cheers,
Samantha
