We buried Dad in Ringsaker Cemetery fourteen years ago this week. Ringsaker is a great place to rest. It's on a high dry hill with a good view of the surrounding farmland. To the west across the flats the trees of Norwegian Grove Township, to the east the water tower and lights of Pelican Rapids, behind that the forested hills of Maplewood.
Thursday night of week 2007.06 the Pelican Township Board of Supervisors heard a request from a township landowner to construct the largest wind generator in the Western Hemisphere. Pelican Township has a zoning ordinance so permission to construct is apparently needed. Details are not known yet. What is thought to be fact is that it will be a single 2.5-megawatt wind turbine with a height and wingspan unmatched in North America. This turbine could supply enough electricity for every household in 56572. Project leaders would like to begin this spring in time for the arrival in Duluth-Superior Harbor of the turbine and blades from Europe.
I can't speak for all the neighbors already at Ringsaker Cemetery when I say I wouldn't mind having a wind turbine on the hill to the north - I'm sure Dad wouldn't mind and he'd have a ton of questions about it - but as a future neighbor, let me extend a warm welcome to the neighborhood.

While I sympathize with her hardship, asking colleagues to contribute to
legal expenses for a personal matter feels inappropriate.
