56572's U19 Tigers prevailed over Alexandria last night at Discovery Middle School Field in Alexandria. It's doubtful aircraft could have use the field for takeoffs and landings, so strong was the sidewind. The first half was tedious. Blame it on the wind. Alex had the best scoring chances in the second half, hitting the crossbar first, then seconds later the post. Tomba stood tall. The referee stood a bit taller as he grunted out a gruff warning to the rather reserved Tiger cheering section for questioning his judgment. The Tigers countered and scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick ten minutes before time. The Tigers from the Two Stoplight Town remain undefeated having now defeated: Fergus Falls, Detroit Lakes, Bemidji and Alexandria. The return against the Fergus Cyclones is Wednesday night at 700 pm at David Brown Field. See you there. U12 plays at 500 pm. Their record is now 2-1.
