Spirit on the Water

Spirit on the water
Darkness on the face of the deep
I keep thinking about you baby
I can't hardly sleep

I'm traveling by land
Traveling through the dawn of day
You're always on my mind
I can't stay away

I'd forgotten about you
Then you turned up again
I always knew
We were meant to be more than friends...
from Modern Times

Powered by twenty-five mile an hour north winds the steam was coming off Lida this morning. Stony Bar wasn't icy and the snowflakes were not yet the size of the leaves. Once in a while a song will grab you, cheer you, warm you to your deepest inside. As a Minnesotan, how can you not crack a smile and feel good about what and where you are listening to Robert Zimmerman dive into Spirit on the Water? It's like having ten cord of split firewood in the backyard, the liquor cabinet well stocked. Damn the torpedoes. RZ must be Natural Resource Numero Uno in MN. Sorry GK, you were a close second in the balloting.
